We believe it is important to dress for success but more so to dress with your heart on your sleeve. The partnership between Toronto Men’s Fashion Week and Tom’s Place is what I call a perfect ‘fit’.”

SPRING/SUMMER 2015 AT VENUE WINDOW
DISPLAY PARTY

Please specify if you are sending a reporter, photographer or TV crew

RSVP your reporter/photographer/TV crew to pr@tomfw.sitedudes.com
When: Thursday, February 12 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
What: Toronto Men’s Fashion Week Venue Window Display Unveil Party
Where: 444 Yonge Street at College Park (on the corner of Hayter St. and Yonge)
Who: Neil Labatte, President of Trump Residences

Toronto Men’s Fashion Week prepares for its second season by unveiling the Window Display at its 444 Yonge Street venue that faces Yonge Street from February 12 to March 9. Coinciding with the unveiling is a ceremony by the President of Trump Residences, Neil Labatte, awarding the winner of the #WHEREISTOM campaign. The ceremony is followed by an exclusive party of cocktails, canapés, and cupcakes.

The display features mannequins adorned in the latest Spring/Summer 2015 designs from TOM* featured menswear designers. Facing Yonge Street – one of Canada’s busiest streets that sees traffic of nearly 40 million people per year – the display furthers a core mission of TOM* to provide a platform for local menswear designers.

With Art Deco style, the magnificent venue is 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, very much reminiscent of The Great Gatsby. Opened on October 30th, 1930, College Park on 444 Yonge Street was the second home of the Eaton’s department store in Toronto. The building was originally envisioned as an extremely tall skyscraper in the spirit of the Empire State Building in New York City before restraints of the Great Depression held the building to only seven floors. The venue features a 1940’s-era wooden elevator – one of only two in the city of Toronto – which was declared a historical landmark.

The College Park entrance adjacent to the venue will be the scene of a Winter Fashion Festival. Using the latest in heating technology, the square will play host to a series of captivating attractions from men’s pop up shops, different men-focused retailers, gourmet food trucks and service providers.

The festival will attract the general public as well as local and non-local visitors to take in the world of men’s fashion while providing a fashionable social space for TOM* attendees.

TOM* will showcase the best in menswear design from established to emerging Canadian and international designers. TOM* will run from Monday, February 23 to Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

CANADIAN MENSWEAR DESIGNERS ASSEMBLE TO UNVEIL THEIR LATEST COLLECTIONS AT TOM*

TORONTO, Jan. 21, 2015 –  Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*) has announced that international Canadian menswear designer Christopher Bates flies back from Milan to showcase his Fall/Winter 2015 collection exclusively at TOM*. Bates’ collection serves as the grand finale as he closes the final day of runway presentations this season at TOM*.

Along with Bates, notable designers HD Homme and Joao Paulo Guedes, winner of the Emerging Menswear Designer Award (EMDA) from season one, are slated to headline the runway presentations on days one and two.

“TOM* influences the men’s fashion industry in Canada because it puts the spotlight solely on menswear,” says Bates, “Last season TOM* set the bar high, but I expect we’ll raise it again together this season.”

Bates is a Canadian designer who has rode a meteoric rise in the fashion industry since training at renowned school of design Istituto Marangoni in Milan. He has recently been nominated for the 2015 Canadian Menswear Designer of the Year Award (CAFA) and will also launch his first footwear collection for the Fall 2015 season.

The finale of the second day of the season, on Thursday Feb 26th at 10 p.m., is HD Homme. The man behind the brand, Hussein Dhalla, is happy to see TOM* return for its second season.

“Men’s fashion has generally taken the back seat to women’s fashion. With a global platform such as TOM* there is a remarkable opportunity for menswear designers to showcase their talent to a wide audience,” says Dhalla, “I am honoured to be a part of the movement again and very excited to showcase my collection.”

Joao Paulo Guedes is back with his own presentation, opening the week on February 25th at 10 p.m. After receiving praise for his TOM* EMDA-winning collection last season, Guedes saw his brand propel forward in the fashion and retail industry.

Designers also presenting this season include: Alan Ta, Andrew Coimbra, Benji WZW, Worth by David Wigley, Garrison Bespoke, Kollar, Luca Galardo, Patrick Salonga, Pedram Karimi, Rani Kim, and Wild North Apparel and many more. See schedule below.

TOM* MOVES INTO HISTORIC LANDMARK ON DOWNTOWN YONGE

TORONTO, Jan. 19, 2015 – Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*), in partnership with Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA), is moving into the historic landmark, College Park on 444 Yonge Street, for TOM* Fall /Winter 2015 Collections from February 23rd to March 3rd, 2015. The square adjacent to the venue – which leads into College Park west of Yonge – will set the scene for the TOM* Winter Fashion Festival throughout the week.

“We are thrilled with our partnership with Toronto Men’s Fashion Week,” says Mark Garner, Executive Director for DYBIA, “With Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom coming into the neighbourhood, this could have not come at a better time. Furthermore, it will complement our Fashion On Yonge event in September featuring the other business members in the community. TOM’s presence showcases the evolution of fashion on Yonge Street.”

With Art Deco style, the magnificent venue is 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, very much reminiscent of The Great Gatsby. Opened on October 30th, 1930, College Park on 444 Yonge Street was the second home of the Eaton’s department store in Toronto. The venue features a 1940′s-era wooden elevator – one of only two in the city of Toronto – which was declared a historical landmark.

“The millennial man is attracted to something that tells a good tale like the wingtip shoe or a tweed jacket. Men love heritage, in that something has a history,” says Jeff Rustia, Executive Director of TOM*, “The event venue itself will appeal to the new male consumer’s focus and attraction to authenticity. No doubt, College Park at 444 Yonge Street, built in the 30′s, will appeal to men’s need for history and heritage, while at the same time provide a space for them to experience the hunt and excitement of exploring new menswear and men products.”

“I am excited to have TOM* move into one of Canada’s most important streets, Yonge Street, and more importantly, into a beautiful venue that proudly wears history on its sleeve. Plus of course the added value of having massive storefront windows to reach and promote to the public directly.”
